As you’ve probably noticed, the City’s feeling a bit more packed these days. The NYU kids have arrived, and a handful of ‘em have pulled out their finest wares for the first year on campus. For example, Victoria Loke chose … Read More

Behind The Camera – Celeste Sloman

They say that capturing the right photograph is all about paying attention to the little details. Celeste knows more than a thing or two about that – after all, she’s the newest addition to our royal family here at Swagger. With a hint of a Scottish accent she’s picked up at the University of St. Andrews, Celeste has been charming our fashionable street-set while shooting as our photography intern. Her highness makes every look unique by doubling up the prints (check out her frames!), and adding a shock-factor for good measure (umm… golden-glittered eyes!). Playing with subtle neutral accents and rockin’ feminine fringe socks, she pulls off an easy summer look for her latest walk through the NYC streets, or on-set for the Village Voice, her other gig. Taking in all the details of the world one photograph – or vintage piece – at a time.

The Intern You Wish You Had – Paola Cruz

Not only do great minds often think alike, they tend to display some striking style similarities. When we caught up with Paola Cruz lookin’ all smiley and summery chic in the East Village, we had no idea she worked for our favorite fashion firework, Vera Balyura. But after talking with the knowledgeable intern (she’s inspired by renown NYC designer Behnaz Sarafpour) it all made sense: Who else could this Honduran beauty work for but another talented trendsetter? Rockin’ summer’s hottest pattern of polka dots in a loose top from boutique Lovely Day, skirt and shoes from American Apparel, and jewelry from her place of employment and the next big “it” name in jewelry, VeraMeat, our girl’s look is both on-trend and setting them. With both employer + employee looking this good, we have to ask: Do you think they’re hiring?

Simplicity In The City – Sarah May Lee Hollis

A few weeks back, we introduced you to LES dancer Jada Delancey, but this week our spotlight shifted to Sarah-May Lee, an up and coming modern dancer from London.  We caught up with her in the East Village, staying cool in a simple sleeveless creme dress and combat boots – a harmonious mix of soft and edgy. Influenced by pieces she can move freely in, May-Lee sticks to free flowing dresses and light blouses, she says. Looks like we need to re-up on our modern dance, the style those girls rock is as gorgeous as the moves they hit.
