Fashionistas in this city have a weekday routine: Work, werk!, and then, work out. We caught Josie Atwood at the end of her day, returning from what seemed to be an ultra-chic gym session in Brooklyn. Wearing lace-up black booties, tapered grey capris, and a gorgeous wool collarless coat, Atwood redefined the term "athletic wear," to the chagrin of women everywhere. But as a FIT grad with Ralph Lauren credentials, it's understandable that shorts and a tee just won't do for Atwood. Especially not when she's werking out, duh. Go Josie!

In case you haven't noticed, turquoise tresses are a serious street craze. So if you're still contemplating going pink, push those bottles to the side, it’s time to dye over Gaga’s tips from a recent trip to Paris. Nigella Miller - a Brooklyn-born hair maven - knows the deal. Spotting the stylista from blocks away, we went weak in the knees over her leather overcoat and matching lace-ups while on a jaunt through SoHo, but it was her lips of fuchsia and electric locks that really knocked us out. Yes, we know that neutrals are always a spot-on classic, but Miller's jaw-dropping look made one thing crystal clear: Colors always add a splash of cool. So...when ya going gaga over green?

Rachel Puff is a darling. The girl with a doll-like stare, porcelain complexion and adorable deep red lips cut through all the Williamsburg clutter this week with an artsy-spin on the school girl classic. An FIT student when she's not stylin', Puff popped in a polka-dot top (the detailing on the neckline was ever-so-perfect), and black on black knee-high shoe combo near the L last week. She says her secret to style is thrifting unique pieces in her hometown of Buffalo and then boasting them in Brooklyn, where skinny jeans and graphic Urban tees are the norm. From first glance, we knew...this doll's not like the others.

Having your eye on the latest "gotta-have-'em-all" trends and being able to discern what's hot and what's just-hot-for-now is the mark of any true fash lover. But what sets the pioneering maven apart from the style child is the ability to see what everyone else seems to be missing: Like the potential of a plain ole' men's button-down to make one chic skirt. Leave it to Karsyn Degast to spot the look and sport it to summery perfection, pairing with a bandeau top, Oxfords, and a head-scarf that emphasizes her delicate features while adding a punch of patterned fierce to the ensemble. The Brooklynite's keeping one step ahead of the game with her can't-miss eye... we'll be watching to see what's next. Bandeau shorts, perhaps?

What can you say about a guy who took a left turn at cool and never bothered to look back? We could rack up his creds: Party promoter for Shameless Mgmt. Ridiculously hot tumblr. A cameo in Beyonce's "Best I Never Had" video(!). We could even do what we do best and describe for you this grunge-thrift meets high-fashion BK kid's poppin' style, the way he takes a pair of Patricia Field pants, a Lindsay Lohan silk-screen tank from Lurk Hard Underground, leather Vans, and a hat from Clientele to complete a look that manages to make sensory overload look laid-back (he admittedly doesn't try to make an outfit "make sense"). But some people are just so damn interesting any extra embellishment ends up being beside the point. So, here's one sick photo of Jorge Wright – what more can we say?

We thought Harry was so sweet on the downtown streets last week! That is, until we asked the NYC-native how he'd describe his style and he responded, "it's a little ghetto fabulosity with a hint of slut core!" The West Village high-schooler went on to tell us that he stole his oh-so-cute red umbrella from the neighbors, giving him a badass edge that rivaled his self-studded denim jacket...(for all concerned, he returned it apres-downpour). If he was a kid in our classroom, Harry would gain points for fashioning a polka dot tee underneath the sweet rocker jacket and extra credit for that dangling earring of goodness. Guess it's true - the kids who act out are the coolest.

When we heard indie-rock band Ra Ra Riot was performing at New York’s Cornell University for Slope Day 2011, we had no choice but to go running for the hills. After the band packed up its guitars, and the screaming fans prepared themselves for the next act, we sat down with the hilarious and down-to-earth lead vocalist, Wes Miles, and bassist, Mathieu Santos, to talk their recently released album, The Orchard, a possible Nelly cover, and new music! Check it.

Swagger: You guys previously described your album The Orchard as "So poppy you will want to throw up on yourself."

Wes: Who said that?! [Laughs] That sounds like me...

Swagger: After touring behind the album for a number of months, do these songs still evoke nausea?

Wes: Well, that makes a little more sense now with the hundreds of students who rushed over to the port-o-potties as soon as our set was done. [Laughs] I mean that’s great, you know. You always hope your music inspires a visceral response from the listener, so, we’ll take nausea; it’s better than indifference.

Swagger: What were some of the ups and downs of recording an album while holed up in an upstate orchard?

Mat: Well, the ups definitely include all the peaches we got to eat, and all the peace and quiet that we got to experience while we were there so that was the best part of it definitely.

Wes: Another up was that we got to drive to a local ice cream shop, and downs… would probably be an infestation of fruit flies – lots of fruit flies; and, a lot of alone time which is a good and a bad.

Swagger: What did Death Cab guitarist Chris Walla add to your songs when he mixed them?

Wes: [Chris Walla] mixed nine out of the ten songs which was great because we were at the end of the recording and weren’t sure how each one would be treated, but he was just really tasteful like mixing, and some stuff we hadn’t thought of - he added a little bit of keyboard on one song and a tiny bit of guitar on another. It’s like simple stuff, it’s really cool.

Mat: We produced the album ourselves which was really cool and I think we did a pretty good job, but he sort of came in at the end and polished it up.

Swagger: Did you ever in a million years think you'd be playing a show with Nelly?

Wes: No, absolutely not. [Laughs] I actually forgot we were playing a show with Nelly until like last night – I just knew it was some point in the future; but, I was telling Rebecca like, “Oh yeah, we’re playing a show with Nelly tomorrow, by the way,” and I couldn’t believe it. The day is finally here.

Swagger: What would it take to get Ra Ra Riot to cover Nelly’s Hot in Herre?

Mat: I mean normally we do, but we had to cut it from our set today given that he is here. We didn’t want him to hear our rendition of Hot in Herre – no, we’ve never played it before. [Laughs] It might just take seeing him play it live and probably be really inspired and moved – who knows the next time we play at Cornell... Who knows? The future is unwritten. We’ll see.

Swagger: Do you have plans to record any new material?

Wes: Nothing specific, just like probably by the end of the year we’ll probably just start. So, yeah, most likely.

Swagger: Will you change up the setting, or stick to The Orchard environment?

Wes: We might change it up. I mean, that was a great experience and we had a good time and are really happy with how The Orchard came out, but you know just in the interest of shaking things up we’ll probably try a new setting.

Swagger: …like some studios in Brooklyn?

Wes: That’s a possibility, [but] maybe somewhere in Louisiana, I’ve been there a few times and …

Mat: …there’s a great music scene, a lot of stuff happening like fusions. We’ve only really started thinking about writing new music last week.

Swagger: What do you think you’ll be going for this time around?

Mat: Not determined yet. [Laughs] Sorry.

Maybe a Nelly/indie-rock banger? Sounds good to us. For more on Ra Ra Riot, follow them on twitter @RaRaRiot or hit up their website rarariot.com!

At just 23, Ysa Perez has joined the ranks of GQ, assisting photo editors with high-profile spreads while rubbing elbows with the likes of Terry Richardson and Busy P. After meeting the photographer and Bushwick stylista at a Chromeo party, we had to know more about what makes this chick tick. Read our interview with Perez below and scroll through our fashion spread above! Cute, huh?

When we spotted you at the Chromeo concert, we thought, 'that girl has IT.' How would you describe your style?

I knew this question was coming, but I still never know how to answer it. It’s nothing crazy, it’s part thrift, part splurge items. I’m like a long shirt, tights with heels kind of person, but at the same time I’ll break out the suede high tops, for sure. I’m really minimal with jewelry and accessories but keeping the nail game tight is a must.

What inspires your style?

New York is what inspires me; everyday. I come from Rochester and worked at an Abercrombie & Fitch, to put everything in perspective. As soon as I came here [I] began noticing everyone’s different styles and observing trends. There’s thrift stores, vintage shops, everything is at your fingertips, you can dress however you want, and more importantly, be whoever you want, that’s New York.

Which shopping locations in New York have caught your attention and kept it?

Off my stop at Morgan is this place Urban Jungle - it’s just a legit thrift store. I usually go once a week and see if anything’s new and I’ve gotten great things from there! I have this fur coat that cost $40 bucks and it is boss. Bushwick is the place for thrifting, most of Brooklyn is, I don’t think I’ve ever “thrifted” in Manhattan...too overpriced for me. Urban Outfitters and H&M— no explanation, every chick knows why.

Where are your favorite places to chill?

When I was 19 and came to New York for the first time, someone took me to Café Habana and I fell in love. If you know me, you know I love to eat. That place has the best Cuban corn, and it’s cheap — a plus when you’re a 23 year old living in New York on the grind. The only fault is, it’s always insanely busy, so timing always is strategic. I gotta say Whitmans because my boy Alex works there and it’s suddenly the new Seinfeld joint. Or, like Cheers, in this “Everybody knows your name” way. It’s on E 9th and has the best burgers and don’t question the fried kale. I wish I could go here more often but Submercer in the basement of the Mercer Hotel is dope. I like intimate places where you roll with a group rather than a huge venue.

What would you never be caught dead wearing?

White tights and Uggs. Never.

What are your beauty essentials?

Moisturizer for sure, and I could never be a person without eyeliner, it helps thin out my huge eyes. Eyeliner, blush, concealer, and I’m good. I wish I could do more but, when I put a lot of make up on I look pretty over done. It’s the inner J.Lo in me.

Def, and now you’re reppin’ GQ! What exactly does your work over at Gentleman’s Quarterly entail?

I am an assistant in the photo department at GQ. I work closely with my Photo Director, three Senior Photo Editors, another assistant, and a researcher. I began as an intern last June for three months and was hired in September of 2010. Everyday is different, which is why I love being here. I handle a lot of the incoming work, whether it’s digital or physical, such as prints, and help with finding research on stories. Let’s say they want a picture of Kevin Durant looking mad when he’s playing ball — I’ll help find that. Everyday I look at pictures and it’s food for my brain, and interact with editors that are notoriously successful in this industry, what else can you ask for at 23?

What’s the most exciting thing you’ve done while working at GQ thus far?

Having to act as a photo editor is exciting — it’s like trading lives for the day, and thinking on my feet not as a photographer. I shoot for GQ.com as well so the parties I attend are usually amazing because I have that access. Yesterday I went to a book Launch for Glenn O’Brien and took a picture with Terry Richardson who shoots for us all the time. That was dope. If I ever get to write some memoirs, a lot of of those moments will come from my time here.

What are you looking forward to doing this summer in NYC?

I can’t even tell you how much I look forward to just being outside in the daytime, sunny and hot, and taking my Contax wherever I go. Nothing beats New York in the summer time.
