A Wave of Style – Annabel Troost

Summertime staples tend to come in the form of waves: heat, beach, and (you knew it was coming…) fashion. What’s cresting and crashing all over the streets this season? American Apparel gear, as sported by our Dutch darling of a style find, Annabel Troost. Like Vera, Aminah, Por, and Ulrikke all before her, Annabel manages to take an AA piece and fashion it to suit her own. On this particular day, the international cutie made made waves in SoHo by complementing her pink AA dress with strappy sandals below and a beaded bikini beneath. We’d beg Annabel not to cross back over the pond to her home in London, but then, why mess with such fashionable flow?

Upwardly Mobile.(Executive Session) go to site eastern maine medical center

Health Data Management June 1, 2009 Byline: Gary Baldwin Catherine Bruno has an ambitious vision for Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems, a seven-hospital, $872 million organization based in Brewer. “We’d like all the hospitals at stage 7,” the vice president and CIO says, referencing the highest rung on the EHR continuum established by HIMSS Analytics. The health system has invested heavily-$75 million over the last seven years – toward that goal. Last October, it completed the first phase of installing a standardized clinical information system, from Cerner Corp, Kansas City, Mo., across all its facilities. The flagship hospital, Eastern Maine Medical Center, has deployed CPOE, qualifying it as EMHS’ first Stage 4 entry.

On Determining a CPOE Timetable We’ve developed a readiness assessment tool. Our member hospitals use the survey to understand the resources needed. We ask how many clinicians are using the computer, how standardized is the care. If you have a standard admission order set for a particular diagnosis, you can preprogram the system to support it.

On the Difficulty of Adopting CPOE You can’t just put in a CPOE system out of the box. At Eastern Maine Medical Center, we did over 100 workflow designs to prepare. If you have a radiology exam order, what happens to it? Whose work list does it show up on? CPOE requires significant input. We logged 27,000 staff hours to put in the system. here eastern maine medical center

On the Limits of Universal Builds It is not that simple to use the standardized sets we built at Eastern Maine Medical Center at the other hospitals. We have no standardized medication formulary. However, we are trying to build one that would enable us to create an order set and move it to another hospital.

The Intern You Wish You Had – Paola Cruz

Not only do great minds often think alike, they tend to display some striking style similarities. When we caught up with Paola Cruz lookin’ all smiley and summery chic in the East Village, we had no idea she worked for our favorite fashion firework, Vera Balyura. But after talking with the knowledgeable intern (she’s inspired by renown NYC designer Behnaz Sarafpour) it all made sense: Who else could this Honduran beauty work for but another talented trendsetter? Rockin’ summer’s hottest pattern of polka dots in a loose top from boutique Lovely Day, skirt and shoes from American Apparel, and jewelry from her place of employment and the next big “it” name in jewelry, VeraMeat, our girl’s look is both on-trend and setting them. With both employer + employee looking this good, we have to ask: Do you think they’re hiring?

West Side’s Fresh Prince – Jazz Robinson

Chilling out, maxing, relaxing all cool and shooting some killer style vibes out on the West Side. No, this isn’t “Fresh Prince: The Village Years,” but 22-year-old Jazz Robinson takes the similarity of his name to DJ Jazzy Jeff to heart in his undone-to-perfection retro look. Balancing one strapped shoulder in overalls from S&A diagonally across from one poppin’ bright unlaced sneaker, and topping off with a hand-carved wooden necklace from GoodWood NYC, this hard-working American Apparel employee (he knows Aminah!) holds his classic look together with the style know-how of any 21st-century trendsetter. Will Smith may always be the prince… but we’re watching this kid conquer.

An A-List Falling Star – Ulrikke Lund

Stars are known for doing a bunch of crazy things: They shoot across the sky. They explode. They even fall… in Union Square. We would know, because we caught a. BIG. one. on a beautifully sunny (or should we say twinkling?) day, in the form of Ulrikke Lund. The Norwegian beauty and A-List fashion blogger is a biiiiig deal in her home country – she only has to mention an item for it to be sold out within hours, and, as of a year ago, was ranked as the fourth-largest blog in Norway (you don’t have to know the laws of physics to figure where she must be now…). In a sweater from Scoop and shorts from her own site, offset with an American Apparel bow, Mulberry bag, Steve Madden wedges, and an umbrella from Urban Outfitters, Ms. Lund does her rep proud in a look that hits all the hottest names + trends. We don’t know what that journey from all the way out in the stratosphere must have been like – but damn were we happy to catch her.

Gender Bender – Por Siddhijar

If Annie Hall were bendin’ genders and breakin’ hearts in NYC circa 1940, we imagine she’d be taking cues from Por Siddhijar. Decked out in American Apparel from head-to-tote, our foreign fashionista (visiting all the way from…Chicago) keeps things boyishly loose in a plaid button-up and cuffed slacks. Yet, with a few delicate details – skinny belt to flatter her waistline, unbuttoned collar to frame her neck – she manages to ground the look in a refined gurrrrliness. Woody Allen’s latest hit may be set in Paris, but with modern muses like Por walking the streets, might we suggest a move back home?
