Manti Te’o Admits To Lying
The truth is slowly coming to light in the Manti Te’o controversy. The Notre Dame linebacker admitted to partially lying about his ‘fake’ girlfriend in a segment of Good Morning America today. In an interview with Katie Couric, Te’o revealed that he was told his online love was a hoax after he believed she had died, and despite knowing the truth, continued to go along with the lie. “Put yourself in my situation. I, my whole world told me that she died on Sept. 12… Now I get a phone call on Dec. 6, saying that she’s alive and then I’m going be put on national TV two days later,” Te’o confessed. However the football star talked about his deceased ‘girlfriend’ in interviews after he had learned the truth on Dec. 8 and again on Dec. 10. WTF?! In other news: Diane O’Meara, the young woman whose picture was used as the face of T’eo supposed girlfriend Lenny Kekua has said “If Manti is really innocent, I empathize with him.” [ABC News]
