Editor’s Note: The 5 Words You Need To Use Now

If you’ve been following the site, you know that every so often I like to chime in with some new words I’ve learned from my super-cool, very badass team. Over the last few months, I’ve heard the most hilarious words thrown around internally while I sit at my desk like, “Umm…WTF does that mean?!” Here are some of the finer words I’ve heard gaining steam  so get used to using ‘em on the scene, you stunt queen.

One who creates “a scene” to bring attention to him/herself or his/her organization. In a digital sense, stunt queens ride relevant or trending stories to bring mass attention to their own efforts. In a physical sense, stunt queens heighten the truth of a specific situation in hopes of props or street cred from others. Ex: Stevie Nicks claims that if she was Mariah Carey she “would have walked over to Nicki and strangled her to death”…because Ms. Nicks needs to make news to sell albums.

Subway riders who, in haste, run up or down the wrong stairwells, causing more traffic and forcing more missed trains, missed connections, and missed dinner dates. Ex: “Sorry I’m late, loads of subway salmon at the Times Square station today.”

The act of wooing a partner. Ex: “Heading to the bars tonight, time to cuff.”

A photo taken of oneself, usually on a mobile device or computer and uploaded to your social network. Ex: “What do you think of my dope studded moment?! #Selfie”

A familial word to describe a female best friend of a gay man. Also, a modern-day take on the term “fag-hag.” Ex: “So many fruitflies out tonight, totally cockblocking my Westgay game!”
