Another day, another designer getting called racist. First, Jeremy Scott had his feet held to the fire when he tried to release these kicks under the Adidas label. Now, Dolce & Gabbana’s getting the side-eye from critics after the Italian label showed off some very “Mammy” looking earrings on its Spring 2013 runway last week. D&G responded saying that the “Moorish” earrings weren’t racist, but came from an important time in Italian history. So, is this a case of Americans getting all upset and screaming “slavery!” or are D&G just showcasing a part of their history? You decide…Racist Or Rad? (Via Fashionista)

this is not racist its fashion -_-
It is art on an earring. People need to get over being so sensitive. If it was an earring of an Egyptian artifact, Black folks would wear it. What is the difference?! And please don’t use the race card because I am a black person. Would I wear the jewelry? Probably not, because it is not my taste. It is not, in my humble opinion, racist. The jewelry does not show the blackamoor in a derogatory manner – so how can it be racist?
These faces (named Moro) are a typical souvenir from Sicily and they are also famous in Venice. And as the designers are from this part of southern Italy, this is not racism but only as a tribute to their culture.
