5. Adele Makes The VMAs Worth Watching (2011)

At the 2011 VMAs, Adele reminded us why we fell for her sad and sappy tunes in the first place! As the singer belted out “Someone Like You,” there wasn’t a dry face left in the house. Even Britney Spears gave Adele a stamp of approval just before the Brit’s performance saying, ”I’m really interested in seeing Adele. I love her. I’m the biggest fan!” YES!
4. The Amy Winehouse Tribute (2011)

After Amy Winehouse’s tragic death, MTV quickly put together a great tribute for the British singer. Splicing in clips of a happy and healthy Amy singing with Tony Bennett, Bruno Mars took the stage to give a heartfelt cover of her hit, “Valerie.”
3. Afeni Shakur and Violetta Wallace Appear On Stage (1999)

At the 1999 VMAs, the mothers of rap’s greatest took to the stage. Afeni Shakur and Violetta Wallace presented the Best Rap Video award with Will Smith, and got to congratulate Jay-Z on his win. The moms paid their son’s longtime feud no mind with Afeni declaring, “We stand united as mothers preserving their legacies.”
2. Beyonce’s Baby Bump (2011)

After debuting her hit “Love On Top” on the VMA stage, Queen Bey proudly unbuttoned her jacket, pulled it back, and showed off her pregnant belly. The cameras quickly flashed to Jay-Z, who had the biggest smile we’ve ever seen. It was arguably the biggest moment in VMA history.
