A DIY Wash-Out: Go Grunge with Acid Wash Nails

(Photo Via: Legally Nailed)

Are you as nostagalic for the 90′s as we are? Even though it wouldn’t be very stylish for us to wear head to toe acid wash gear a la Clarissa, we see no problem all-acid-wash-everything for our nails. Here’s how to get the trend in THREE steps:

Materials:

- Nail Polishes in Blue and White (you can use ANY two colors, but what acid wash be without the traditional denim flair, right?!)

- Nail Polish Remover

- Acetone

- Q-Tips

Steps:

1. Paint your nail with the base color, which is blue.

2. Paint a coat of white over the first coat, and let dry.

3. Dip a Q-Tip in acetone and LIGHTLY brush away the white paint until you’ve captured the desired acid wash look (hint: brushing in a vertical motion is ideal). If the white coat is coming off too easily, add another thin coat. Be careful for q tip fuzz getting stuck in your nail! Apply a topcoat, and you’re done. Yes, it’s THAT easy!
