Madonna adorned in jewels, not boots McCartney maid of honor, `People’ says

Chicago Sun-Times December 30, 2000 NEW YORK Stella McCartney was the maid of honor, not Gwyneth Paltrow. And the bride didn’t wear diamond-encrusted cowboy boots, as had been rumored. site maid of honor

But Madonna was dripping with diamonds-on loan from Harry Winston- when she married British film director Guy Ritchie under tight security in Scotland.

Those are some of the few details that have trickled out about the Dec. 22 nuptials included in this week’s People magazine.

Madonna, 42, wore a strapless silk ivory gown, designed by McCartney, daughter of ex-Beatle Paul McCartney. Paltrow, Rupert Everett, Donatella Versace and Sting were among the celebrities who witnessed the union at Skibo Castle.

The singer’s 4-year-old daughter, Lourdes, was the flower girl, tossing handfuls of red rose petals. Ritchie, 32, followed in a teal blazer and a Mackintosh, navy-and-green plaid kilt. see here maid of honor

Madonna and Ritchie’s 4-month-old son, Rocco, sat nearby in the arms of a nanny.

The Rev. Susan Brown led the couple through the Church of Scotland’s nine-part wedding ceremony. “They were pretty good on their lines,” said Ritchie’s father, John. “It was lovely.” Afterward, the guests gathered in a makeshift disco in the 19th- century castle’s basement. The bride changed into an ivory-colored pantsuit, which McCartney also designed.

Skateboard-Chic? – Elijah Berle

Meet Elijah, a skateboarder from the West Coast (yah, we couldn’t believe it either).  With a buttoned-up style that rivals our own street smarts, and polished oxfords with geek-chic frames, this kid screams anything but the Boardwalk. Even the earring – designed + crafted by his West Coast belle – looks suspiciously St. Mark’s Place. That said, we found some of Elijah’s skateboarding skills on YouTube…and, well, he’s pretty damn good. Watch the style skater transcend the sidewalk AND the boardwalk here, and see more photos below.

Swagger Trends: Boho Bags

Whether you’re into boho or bobo this Summer, we suggest you pack up the trend in a purse. We caught Kumiko rockin’ a beaded saddle bag with fringe a world away from her Japanese roots, while Bianca kept her look simpler in straw. Want to add a little quirk? Go all-out like Claire with rainbow stripes + furry tail attaché. Practical and pretty…always perfect!
